By Katherine Schaefer For three years, Alan McMillan has been waiting for the right time to step down from the National Safety Council, perhaps in an effort to safeguard the future of the organization he has served for 15 years. And it is no surprise that safety is his top priority. In addition to his long tenure at the $35 million NSC, McMillan was deputy assistant secretary of labor for occupational safety and health with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration and acting assistant secretary at the Mine Safety and Health Administration, to name a few posts.
